“Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.” ~ Douglas Pagel These Are the Gifts I’d Like to Give to You
This time of year, regardless of our religious beliefs and holiday traditions, most of us are gathering with loved ones, celebrating the year-end, taking stock of where we are in our lives/careers/relationships, and setting goals for the new year. It makes sense that we are looking at what we’d hoped to accomplish as writers this year, and perhaps pushing to reach a goal or two before the year comes to a close, trying to squeeze writing into an already chock-full month.
As you take stock and make your plans for the next couple weeks, I encourage you to set aside time dedicated to non-writing things where you let yourself off the hook about writing. In other words, when you’re not writing, be in the moment –whatever that moment is– and don’t feel bad or guilty about spending that time relaxing/celebrating/visiting.
Here’s wishing you plenty of rainbow-sliding time, as well as productive writing time.
